What is compaction?

Compaction is when things get squished together to make space for more stuff.

Imagine you have a toy box that's already full of your favorite toys, cars, action figures, and blocks. When you want to add more toys, but there’s no room, you might start pushing the old ones closer together so they take up less space. That way, you can fit in new toys too! This is like compaction.

How It Works

In a toy box, you move things around or press them tighter. In real life, when we talk about compaction, it's similar, but with dirt or soil. When heavy things are on top of the ground, like a big truck driving over soft earth, the dirt gets pushed together and becomes harder and denser. This makes the ground stronger and more packed.

Why It Matters

Just like you need space in your toy box for new toys, plants and buildings need good soil to grow strong. If the dirt is too loose or too tight, it can make it hard for roots to grow or for buildings to stay up. Compaction helps keep everything balanced, just like how your toy box stays organized!
