What is coincidence?

Coincidence is when two things happen at the same time by chance, like when you think about your friend and they call you right then.

Imagine you have a bag full of different colored marbles, red, blue, green. You close your eyes and pick one without looking. It might be red, it might be blue, there's no way to know for sure. That’s chance in action.

Now imagine you're playing hide-and-seek with your brother. You both choose the same hiding spot, behind the couch, without talking. When you come out, you’re both surprised because it felt like you knew the other would pick that spot. That’s a coincidence!

It's kind of like finding treasure in your backpack when you were just about to go look for it somewhere else. You didn’t plan it, it just happened at the same time.

If you play hide-and-seek many times with different friends, sometimes two people will choose the same spot again. That’s not magic, it's just chance working in a fun way.
