A clock is like a friendly helper that tells you when it’s time for breakfast, nap, or bedtime.
Imagine you have a toy train that goes choo-choo around a track. Every time the train completes one full loop, you know it's been 1 minute. A clock works in a similar way, it counts how much time has passed and shows you when it’s time for something fun or important.
How a Clock Counts Time
A clock has numbers from 1 to 12 around its face, like slices of a pie. Inside the clock, there are two hands: one short (the hour hand) and one long (the minute hand). The long hand moves faster, every time it goes all the way around, that’s 60 minutes, or 1 hour. The short hand moves slower, showing you which hour it is.
Why We Need Clocks
Clocks help us know when to do things like go to school, eat lunch, or play outside. Without clocks, we’d have to guess the time, and that’s not always fun!
Examples
- A simple clock with hands that move around a face, telling the time of day.
- An old grandfather clock ticking in a living room.
- A kitchen timer used to cook perfect eggs.
