Categorization is when we group things together based on what they have in common.
Imagine you have a big box full of toys, cars, balls, blocks, and dolls. If you want to find all the cars quickly, you might put them in one pile, and all the balls in another. That’s categorization, you’re sorting things into groups so it's easier to find what you're looking for.
Why We Use Categorization
When we categorize, we make life simpler. Think about your backpack at school. You might have a section for pencils, one for notebooks, and another for snacks. Each part of the backpack is a category, they help you know where everything belongs without having to dig through everything.
How It Helps Us Learn
Categorization also helps us learn new things. If you see a dog, a cat, and a bird, you might notice that dogs and cats have fur, while birds have feathers. You could make two categories, one for furry animals and one for feathered ones. This way, when you see a new animal, you can decide which group it belongs to!
Categorization is like making little homes for things so they’re easier to find and understand!
