What is Carbon-11?

Carbon-11 is like a special kind of carbon that has 11 tiny particles inside it instead of the usual number.

Imagine you have a bag of marbles. Normally, your bag has 6 marbles, that's regular carbon. But Carbon-11 is like when you put in 5 extra marbles for fun, now your bag has 11 marbles total, and it behaves a little differently because of that.

Carbon-11 is used by doctors to help them see what’s going on inside our bodies. When they give someone a special medicine with Carbon-11 in it, the body uses it like a spotlight, lighting up certain parts so doctors can take pictures and know if something isn’t working right.

It doesn’t last forever though, just like how your favorite toy might run out of batteries after a while, Carbon-11 changes into another kind of particle after some time. This makes it perfect for taking quick, clear pictures without too much mess.
