What is Brexit?

Brexit is the name for when the United Kingdom chose to leave the European Union, which is a big club of European countries that work together.

Think of the European Union like a giant shared playground where everyone agrees to follow the same rules so they can play together easily. The UK decided they wanted to play by themselves in their own corner.

When the UK was in the club, they followed the club’s rules, paid membership fees, and could travel or trade with other members without extra paperwork. Now that they have left, they have their own rules again.

Imagine you and your friend share a big toy box. You both follow the same rules for sharing. If your friend decides to take their toys back to their own room, you have to figure out new ways to share or trade. That is Brexit.
