Being brave means doing something even when you're a little scared.
Imagine you're at the top of a slide, and it's really tall, so tall that your friend laughed when you looked down. You want to go down, but you’re also worried about falling or going too fast. That’s scared. But if you take a deep breath and jump anyway, that’s brave.
What Makes Someone Brave?
- Sometimes brave means trying something new, like riding a bike without training wheels.
- Other times, it means standing up for what's right, even when someone bigger is being mean.
- Being brave doesn’t mean you're not scared, it just means you do the thing anyway.
Brave People Are Like Big Heroes
Think of your favorite superhero. They don't always feel confident, sometimes they’re nervous too! But they still fight because they know it’s important. That’s what brave people do every day, they keep going even when it's hard.
Examples
- A child standing up to a bully in front of their classmates.
- A firefighter running into a burning building.
- Someone admitting they made a mistake in public.
