Borrow is when you take something from someone else for a little while and then give it back.
Imagine you're playing with your friend in the park. You want to use their favorite toy, but you don't have one yet. So, you say, "Can I borrow your toy for a bit?" Your friend says yes. That means you take the toy from them to play with, and later, you give it back so they can play with it again.
Like Sharing a Cookie
Think of borrowing like sharing a cookie. You have no cookies, but your friend has one. Instead of eating the whole cookie right away, you say, "Can I borrow your cookie for a little while?" Your friend agrees, and then later, you give them back their cookie (or maybe even share some of yours too!).
This way, both of you get to enjoy the cookie without having to wait for it all day. It's like taking something from someone else on loan, just like when you borrow a pencil from your teacher in class!
Examples
