What is Bodies of water?

A body of water is just a big place where water lives, like a lake or an ocean.

Imagine you're playing in a puddle after it rains, that's a small body of water. Now picture the biggest puddle ever, so huge it stretches out as far as your eyes can see, that’s like the sea or the ocean. These are also bodies of water, just much bigger.

Different Shapes and Sizes

Some bodies of water are round, like a lake in the middle of the forest. Others are long and skinny, like a river winding through the grass. And then there's the ocean, so big it feels endless!

You can even have bodies of water inside other bodies of water, like a pond inside a bigger lake.

Water that Moves

Some bodies of water stay still, like a calm lake on a quiet day. Others are busy and moving, like a river rushing along or the ocean waves crashing against the shore.

So next time you see a lake, a river, or even the sea, remember, those are all just different kinds of bodies of water, each with its own special way of being!
