Blue or red light is like the different colors you see when you look at a rainbow, but only two of them!
Imagine you have a toy flashlight that can change colors. When it's blue, it looks like the sky on a clear day. When it's red, it’s like the color of an apple or a fire truck.
Light is made up of tiny little waves, and each color has its own special wave. Blue light has shorter, quicker waves, they bounce around like kids jumping rope fast. Red light has longer, slower waves, they move more like people walking calmly down the street.
So when you see blue or red light, it's just the flashlight (or the sun, or a lamp) showing you one of its favorite colors by sending out those special little waves!
You can even feel the difference. Think about how warm a fire feels, that’s red light working hard to make things hot. And think about how cool a blue lake looks, that's blue light giving you a chill with its quick little waves!
