What is beach?

A beach is a place where water and land meet, just like when you step out of your bathtub and onto the floor.

Imagine you're playing with sand in your sandbox, that’s kind of what happens on a beach, but much bigger. When the ocean or lake comes up to the shore, it leaves behind wet sand and pebbles, which we call beach.

A beach is like your favorite playground, you can run, dig, build castles, or even swim! Some beaches have smooth sand that feels soft under your toes, while others have tiny rocks that tickle your feet. Sometimes the water is calm and gentle, other times it’s wild and waves come crashing in.

Beaches are special because they change all day, when the sun shines, the sand warms up, and when the water pulls back, you can see more of the land. It's like a place that plays hide-and-seek with the ocean!
