What is autumn?

Autumn is when the days get shorter and the leaves change color and fall from the trees.

Trees are like big houses that live outside. In summer, they wear green clothes, but as the year goes on, they start to take off their green clothes and put on yellow, orange, or red ones. This happens because the sunlight gets less each day, and the trees feel it's time for a change.

What Happens to Leaves?

Leaves are like little hats that sit on branches. When the tree decides it's time to rest, it stops sending food to the leaves, so they start to fall off. It’s like when you take off your socks at bedtime, the leaves just let go and land on the ground.

What Happens to the Weather?

The weather also changes in autumn. The air gets cooler, almost like a gentle breeze from a big fan that's been turned down. People start wearing sweaters or jackets, and sometimes it rains, which is like when you spill water on the floor, but instead of cleaning it up, you just let it be.

Autumn brings a cozy feeling, like being wrapped in a warm blanket after playing outside all day.
