What is authenticity?

Authenticity is when something feels real and comes from its own true self.

Imagine you have a favorite toy, maybe it’s a teddy bear that has been with you through many adventures. When you hug it, it feels special because it's just being itself, not trying to be something else. That’s authenticity, when someone or something is being who they really are, not pretending to be someone else.

What Makes Something Authentic?

Think about your favorite ice cream flavor. If you love chocolate chip and always pick that one, it feels authentic because it's what you truly like. But if you choose vanilla just because everyone else does, it might feel a little fake, not quite you.

On the other hand, if someone tries to copy your favorite ice cream flavor exactly, they're being real, too, but in their own way.

Why Authenticity Matters

When people or things are authentic, they make you feel comfortable and happy. It's like having that teddy bear again, it just feels right. You don’t have to work hard to understand it; it’s already exactly who it is.
