What is Art?

Art is when people use creativity to express how they feel or what they see, like making a picture out of crayons or singing a song that makes you happy.

Imagine you have a box full of colors. You pick up a red crayon and draw a big, wiggly line on paper. That’s art! It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to come from your heart. Sometimes people paint pictures of places they’ve never been, or write poems about their favorite toy.

People make art because they want to share something special with others. Think of a birthday cake, you might draw on it with frosting, making silly faces or pretty shapes. That’s like art too! It makes people laugh and feel good, just like music does when you sing along to your favorite song.

Art is all around us, in the way flowers grow, in the rhythm of a heartbeat, even in the way you tie your shoelaces. It's not about being perfect; it’s about feeling something and letting others feel it too.
