What is archaeology?

Archaeology is like being a detective who solves mysteries about people from long ago.

Imagine you're playing with toys and then leave them in your room. Years later, someone comes into your room and finds all those toys scattered around, they might wonder what kind of game you played, how many friends came over, or even what you were thinking when you left the room in a hurry!

That's exactly what archaeologists do, but instead of toys, they look at old things like pots, bones, buildings, and tools. They dig into the ground to find these clues, just like you might dig through your toy box to find something special.

What Archaeologists Find

Archaeologists use tools, like brushes and shovels, to carefully uncover what's hidden below the surface. Sometimes they even find old pictures or writings that tell stories about people who lived hundreds or thousands of years ago.

It’s like finding a letter from your friend who went on a big adventure, you get to imagine all the fun things they did!
