What is Antiretroviral therapy (ART)?

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is like giving your body a team of superheroes to fight off tiny invaders called viruses.

Imagine you have a toy box full of little robots that come in at night and mess up your toys. That’s what happens when someone has a virus, it comes in and messes up their cells. ART is like sending out a group of strong, clever helpers who go after those tiny robots one by one, making them weaker until they can't do any more damage.

How ART Works

Think of each helper as a special kind of medicine. These medicines work together, just like how your friends help you clean up your room faster if you all pitch in. Each medicine targets a different part of the virus, so when they all work together, it’s much harder for the virus to survive.

Why ART is Important

Without ART, those tiny invaders can multiply and make someone very sick. But with ART, the number of viruses goes down, like how your room gets cleaner when you all help out, and the person can live a happy, healthy life.
