What is anterior?

"Anterior means something is in front, like your face is anterior to your neck."

Imagine you're sitting at a table eating pizza. Your face is right there, it's the part of your body that’s in front. Now think about your neck, which connects your head to your body. That’s behind your face. So, if something is anterior, it's in the front.

Think of a pizza box. The top of the box is like the anterior side, that’s where you put the pizza so you can eat it. The bottom of the box is behind, like your back or neck. So when we say something is anterior, it's just saying it's on the front side, like the top of a pizza box.

You can use this word with your body or things around you. Your hands are anterior to your arms, because they’re in front. A door is anterior to a wall, that’s where you go through to get from one place to another.
