What is angle?

An angle is how much two lines turn from one direction to another, like when you twist your arms or turn your head.

Imagine you're playing with a toy train track. You start with the tracks going straight, and then you make them bend so the train can go around a corner. The amount of bend between the straight parts is an angle. It’s like how much you turned your hand when you made that bend, just bigger!

How we measure angles

We use something called a protractor, which looks like a half-circle with numbers on it. When you put it on the corner where the two tracks meet, it shows you how big the turn is, kind of like a ruler for turns.

If you make a tiny bend, that's a small angle. If you twist your arms all the way around, that’s a full circle, which makes a 360-degree angle.

You can even see angles in real life: when you open a door, or look up at a bird flying in the sky, everything has angles hiding inside! An angle is how much two lines turn from one direction to another, like when you twist your arms or turn your head.
