What is amusement?

Amusement is when you feel happy and entertained because something fun is happening around you.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, maybe a teddy bear or a ball. When you laugh, giggle, or jump up and down because of what's going on, that’s amusement. It’s like when you’re at the park, and you swing really high, then laugh as you come back down, that feeling is amusement.

Sometimes, it’s something simple, like a funny story your mom tells or a game you play with your brother. Other times, it might be something bigger, like a fair with rides and games. What makes it amusing is that it feels fun, exciting, or joyful, just like when you get to eat ice cream on a hot day.

You don’t have to be the only one having fun. When your friends laugh together, or when your whole class claps and cheers during a game, that’s shared amusement, it’s like everyone is feeling happy at the same time, just like you and your toy!
