What is aluminium?

Aluminium is a light and strong metal that we use for things like cans, foil, and even airplane parts.

Imagine you have a can of soda, the shiny part around it is made from aluminium. It’s not as heavy as steel or iron, so it doesn’t make your can too hard to carry. But it still holds up well when you squish it or drop it.

How aluminium behaves

Aluminium is like a flexible superhero, it bends without breaking easily, and it doesn’t rust like iron does. That’s why we use it for things like foil, which you might use to wrap your leftovers. It’s also used in planes, because being light helps them fly better.

When people make aluminium, they take a big chunk of it, called aluminium ore, and melt it down, then shape it into what we need. It's kind of like melting down chocolate and pouring it into molds to make candy bars!

So next time you see a can or wrap your sandwich in foil, remember, that’s aluminium at work!
