What is alkalization?

Alkalization is when something becomes less acidic, like turning lemon juice into a softer drink.

Imagine you have a glass of orange soda, it's tangy and sharp, just like when your tongue feels zapped after drinking too much. That’s because it has a lot of acid in it. Now, if you add some baking soda, which is kind of like the opposite of acid, it starts to change the drink. The sharpness goes down, it becomes softer, almost like a regular soda. This process is called alkalization.

What happens during alkalization?

When something acidic mixes with something alkaline, they balance each other out. Think of it like a seesaw: acid goes one way, and alkaline comes the other. The more alkaline you add, the less sharp or tangy your drink becomes, just like when you mix baking soda into orange soda.

You can see this in real life too! Sometimes people take baking soda to help with heartburn because it helps make the stomach feel less acidic. It’s like giving the stomach a little bit of softness after all that tangy lemon juice!
