What is airflow?

Airflow is when air moves from one place to another, just like how you move from your bed to the kitchen in the morning.

Imagine you’re outside on a windy day. The wind is air moving, it pushes against your face, makes your hair fly, and maybe even helps you blow out birthday candles. That’s airflow in action!

Like a crowd of friends

Think of air as a group of tiny friends who like to move around. When they're all standing still, there's no wind. But when some of them start running in one direction, maybe because it’s warmer where they’re going, the whole crowd moves with them. That’s airflow, the way air travels from one spot to another, just like you walking from your room to the playground.

What makes airflow happen

Sometimes airflow is caused by heat, like when a hot cup of cocoa warms up the air around it, making it rise. Other times, it's because of wind, the movement of air over large distances. Either way, airflow helps spread warmth, carry smells, and even make leaves dance in the trees!
