What is Adoption?

Adoption is when someone becomes part of your family, just like adding a new friend to your group at playtime.

Adoption means one person or group decides to care for another person, usually because they want to give them love and support. It’s like if you had a toy that needed more attention, and your teacher said, “Let’s take care of it together.” That teacher becomes like a new parent, someone who helps look after the toy.

How Adoption Works

When a child is adopted, they get a new family, just like getting a new group of friends to play with. The new parents might not be related by blood, but they become the child’s official caregivers, helping them grow and learn every day.

Adoption Can Happen in Many Ways

Sometimes, a baby is adopted when they’re very young, like being picked up from a nursery. Other times, older kids are adopted too, it’s like joining a club that already has some members, but now you get to be part of the team too!

Adoption isn’t just about getting a new family; it’s also about giving love and care to someone who needs it most.
