Adapt is when something changes to fit a new situation, just like how you might wear a coat on a cold day.
Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, a ball. You roll it across the floor, and it goes smoothly. But then you take it outside, where there's grass instead of a smooth floor. The ball doesn't go as far because the grass is bumpy. That’s adapt in action, the ball has to change how it moves to fit this new surface.
Like a Shape-Changing Puzzle
Think of adapt like a puzzle that can change its shape. If you're trying to fit a square piece into a round hole, you might need to reshape it or find another way around. That’s what adapt feels like, finding a new way to solve the problem even when things don’t match up perfectly.
Sometimes, you have to try different ways before you figure out what works best. Just like how you might try standing on your toes, or jumping, or even pushing the ball with your hands if it’s too bumpy outside!
