A shadow is like a friend who hides behind you when you're playing hide-and-seek.
Imagine you’re outside on a sunny day, and there’s a big light, like the sun. When you stand in front of that light, your body blocks some of it, just like when you put your hand in front of a lamp at home. The part where the light can't reach becomes dark, and that dark shape is your shadow.
Why Shadows Change Shapes
If you move closer to the big light, your shadow gets bigger, like when you get close to a lamp and your shadow on the wall stretches out. If you move away from the light, your shadow becomes smaller, just like when you walk far from the lamp and your shadow shrinks.
You can even make different shapes with your body, like bending or jumping, and your shadow will change too, as if it's dancing along with you!
So next time you see a shadow, think of it as a fun friend that follows you around when there’s light to play with.
