What is 90 degrees?

A 90-degree angle is like when two lines meet to form a perfect corner, just like the corner of a square block or a book.

Like a Clock Face

Imagine looking at a clock. At 3 o'clock, the hands point straight out, one hand is on 12, and the other is on 3. The angle between them is 90 degrees. It’s like a right corner you can see every day!

Like a Square or Rectangle

If you draw a square on paper, each of its corners is a 90-degree angle. You can feel this if you use building blocks, when two sides meet at that sharp, clean edge, they make a 90-degree corner.

You might even see it in your bedroom, the corner where your wall meets the floor is often a 90-degree angle. It’s all around you!
