What is 70/30” rule?

The 70/30 rule is like dividing your favorite snack into two parts so you can enjoy it now and still have some for later.

Imagine you have a big bag of cookies, 70 of them are chocolate chip, and 30 are sugar. The 70/30 rule says you should eat 70% of the cookies right away (that’s most of them), and save 30% (a smaller part) for tomorrow.

This works like this:

  • If there are 70 cookies, you eat 49 today, and keep 21 for later.
  • If there are 30 cookies, you eat 21 today, and keep 9 for later.

It’s a simple way to make sure you don’t eat everything at once, like when you have a big bowl of ice cream and want it to last all week. You take the bigger part now, and leave the smaller piece for another day.

Why 70/30?

People use this rule not just with snacks, they also use it with time, money, or even chores! It helps you balance between enjoying something right away and saving some for later.
