24 satellites are like 24 little helpers up in space that help us find our way.
Imagine you're playing hide and seek outside. You can't see your friend, but you know they’re somewhere nearby. Now imagine there are 24 friends, all hiding in the sky, not just near you, but far away too. These 24 friends are satellites.
How do satellites help us?
Each satellite is like a tiny clock that sends messages to Earth. When your phone or watch wants to know where it is, it listens for those messages from the satellites. By checking the time it takes for the message to arrive, it can figure out how far away each satellite is, and from there, it knows exactly where you are.
Why 24?
Think of it like having enough friends hiding in the sky so that no matter where you are on Earth, at least four of them can help you find your way. That’s why we need 24 satellites, to make sure they’re always there to help you, even when you're playing hide and seek all around the world!
