The 2003 invasion of Iraq was when a group of countries went to war with Iraq and took over its government.

Imagine you're playing a game of tag in the park, and suddenly a bunch of your friends come running to help you catch the person who was "it." That's kind of what happened, some countries, like the United States, Britain, and others, decided they wanted to take over Iraq because they thought the leader there, Saddam Hussein, had something hidden.

They believed he had weapons that could hurt many people at once. So, they went into Iraq like a big team in a race, some came from the sky with planes and dropped bombs, others came through the ground with tanks, and they won the race!

After they took over, they found out that Saddam didn't have those weapons after all. But now, Iraq had a new government, and things changed for many people living there.
