Transparency and layering are like stacking clear pieces of glass on top of each other, you can still see through them, but things look a bit different depending on how many layers there are.
Transparency means something lets light pass through it so you can see what’s behind it. Like when you use a transparent cup to hold water, you can see the water and maybe even the little pebbles inside.
Layering is like putting one thing on top of another, just like stacking plates in the kitchen. Each layer can change how things look from above. If you stack two transparent cups together, you still see through them both, but the image might look a bit squished or stretched, kind of like looking at something through a curtain with multiple layers.
How Layers Work
Imagine you're looking at your favorite toy through a layer of glass. It looks just as big and bright as usual. But if you put another piece of glass on top, it still looks clear, but now there are two things between you and the toy, like two windows in a row.
If you stack many layers, it can make things look farther away or even a little blurry, just like looking at a fish tank from outside.
Examples
- A cake with different colored layers shows how layering works, and transparency means you can see each layer clearly.
