Imagine you have a giant straw going straight from one side of the Earth to the other. If you jumped in, gravity would pull you down toward the center, like being on a roller coaster. Once you pass the center, you'd start floating up again because gravity is now pulling you in the opposite direction. You’d keep moving back and forth until something slowed you down.
Examples
- Imagine you’re on a seesaw, when you fall down, you get pushed back up again.
- If you jumped in a hole through Earth and came out on the other side, it would be like being launched into the air.
- Like being pulled by a giant invisible rope from one end of the Earth to the other.
