What if the United States Lost the Revolution?

What if the United States never became a country and stayed under British rule?

Imagine you're playing a game where you and your friends try to build a cool treehouse. You all agree on the rules, but one friend, let's call him King Britain, keeps saying, "No, I'm in charge!" and doesn't want to share the tools or listen to your ideas.

The American Revolution was like that game. People in the United States wanted more freedom and control over their lives, so they fought back against Britain, who was acting like a bossy friend who wouldn’t let them build their treehouse how they wanted.

What Would Happen If They Lost?

If the United States lost the Revolution, it would be like your team lost the game, you'd have to keep following King Britain's rules.

You’d still live in the same houses, go to the same schools, and maybe even speak the same language. But Britain would make all the big decisions, what taxes you pay, how you’re governed, and maybe even what jobs you get.

It might feel like your treehouse is still being built, but you're not the one choosing the color of the roof or where to put the ladder.
