What if the Earth was actually flat, like a big pancake instead of a ball?
Imagine you're playing with your toy cars on a huge table. If the table were really, really big, so big it covered the whole world, and you drove all the way to the edge, you’d fall off! That’s what would happen if Earth was flat. You wouldn’t feel like you’re going around in circles; instead, you’d just keep driving straight until you hit the end of the table.
What Would the Sky Look Like?
If the Earth were flat, the sky might look a bit different too. Imagine you're looking at a big round balloon from above, it looks like a circle. But if you're on top of a very tall building and look down, everything seems to get smaller as it goes farther away. On a flat Earth, the sun and moon would also seem to move across the sky in a straight line instead of going around in circles.
How Would Day and Night Work?
On a flat Earth, day and night could work like a light switch, the sun just turns on and off. But instead of going around the Earth, it might just move up and down or go behind a big wall at the edge of the world!
Examples

- Flat Earth theory explains why the sun seems to move across the sky like it's on a stage.
- You think you can walk all the way around the world without falling off an edge.
