What if a star exploded right next to us, like it was our neighbor?
Imagine your favorite toy is a star, and it’s sitting across the room from you. One day, it suddenly blows up, sending out a huge wave of light and energy, kind of like when you pop a balloon full of air and it zooms everywhere at once. That's what happens in a stellar explosion near Earth.
What Would We Feel?
If the star was really close, say, about 100 times closer than our sun is, we’d feel it like a strong wind or even a thump on our chest. It would light up the sky so much that you could see it during the day, just like how a bright flashlight can make everything else look dark.
What Would Happen to Earth?
If the star was even closer, maybe only 30 times away from us, the explosion might shake the ground and cause some damage. It would be like being right next to a very loud firecracker, but much bigger!
But don’t worry, our star is super far away, so we’re safe for now!
