What happens when electricity stops flowing?

When electricity stops flowing, things that depend on it turn off, just like a toy car stops moving when you let go of its remote.

Imagine you're playing with a toy train set. The train moves because you press a button, and electricity flows through the tracks to make the train go. Now, suppose someone unplugs the train set, that’s like electricity stopping flowing. The train stops moving right away, just like when you stop pushing your friend on a swing.

What happens in real life?

If electricity stops flowing in your house, lights go out, televisions turn off, and maybe even your fridge can't keep food cold anymore, it’s like the fridge is taking a nap! This is called a power outage. It's just like when you have to stop playing with your toys because someone turns off the lights in the room.

Electricity needs a path

Electricity flows through wires, kind of like water flowing through pipes. If the path is blocked or the source stops sending it, then electricity can't go anywhere, and everything that depends on it stops working too!
