How Wings Work
Think about a bird flying. Its wings flap up and down, pushing air down so the bird can go up. It’s like when you jump on a trampoline, you push down, and you bounce back up!
Planes have big, flat wings too. As the plane moves forward, air flows over and under the wing, creating lift. Lift is what makes the plane rise into the sky, just like how you can float in the water when you jump in a pool.
Why Wings Are Important
Without wings, birds couldn’t fly, and planes wouldn’t be able to leave the ground. They’re like the feet of flying things, helping them move through the air with ease!
Examples
- A bird flaps its wings to fly, just like a plane uses wings to stay aloft.
- Even insects have tiny wings that let them hover in midair.
