What do ‘Commonwealth’ & ‘British Empire’ mean to you?

A Commonwealth is like a big group of friends who all used to live together but now have their own homes and lives, they still hang out and help each other sometimes.

Imagine you, your cousins, and your best friend from the neighborhood all lived in the same house. That’s like the British Empire, one big family living under one roof. But then everyone grew up and moved to different houses across the world. Now you’re part of a Commonwealth, where you still visit each other for holidays or help when someone needs it.

Like a Family with Many Homes

The British Empire was like a giant house that many people lived in, including your mom, dad, auntie, and uncle. It had lots of rooms (countries), all connected by one big roof (the UK). But as time passed, everyone moved out to live in their own houses (their own countries).

Now, the Commonwealth is like a club that all those family members still belong to. They don’t live together anymore, but they still share stories, help each other when needed, and sometimes even visit for big events, just like your family reunion!
