The sky changes color during sunset because the sunlight has to travel farther through the Earth's atmosphere. When the sun is low on the horizon, its light passes through more air than when it's directly overhead. This makes the blue light scatter away, and the red and orange colors become more visible. It’s like the sky is painting itself with different colors!
Examples
- Imagine looking through a long tunnel of air, blue light gets scattered away, leaving red and orange behind.
- A sunset is like a rainbow that only shows up when the sun is low on the horizon.
