What Happens Inside
Imagine a popcorn kernel is like a little bubble with water inside. When you put it in the microwave or on the stove, the heat warms up the water until it turns into steam. The steam pushes against the hard shell of the kernel, making it grow bigger and bigger. Eventually, the shell can’t hold in all that pressure anymore, snap! It bursts open, making a loud noise and turning into fluffy popcorn.
Examples
- A kernel pops like a tiny balloon when it gets too hot inside.
