The Northern Lights are like magic in the sky, and they happen because of a space party. The Sun sends out tiny particles, called solar wind, which travel through space to Earth. When these tiny particles meet Earth’s magnetic field, they zoom down to the top of our atmosphere, making it shine with colors. It looks like shimmering curtains in the sky, green, red, and purple!
Examples
- Imagine a giant space balloon filled with tiny glowing particles, that’s what happens during an aurora!
- You can see them when it gets dark outside, especially if you're near the North Pole.
