What causes temperature change?

Temperature change happens when something gets warmer or cooler, just like how you feel when you play outside and then go inside.

What makes things warm?

Imagine you're sitting on a sunny windowsill, you feel nice and toasty. That’s because the sun is giving off heat, like a big, bright heater in the sky. When something gets more heat energy, it warms up. Like when you put your hands near a toaster, they get warm too!

What makes things cool?

Now imagine you take that same sunny windowsill and put an ice cube on it. The ice cube starts to melt because the warmth from the window is moving into the ice. That’s like how you feel when you come in from playing outside, your body loses heat, and you get cooler.

So, temperature change happens whenever heat moves from one place to another, just like a warm hug or a cool breeze on a summer day!
