What causes societal collapse?

Societal collapse happens when a group or community can no longer keep things running smoothly.

Imagine you're building a big sandcastle on the beach. You and your friends work together, some bring buckets, others pour water, and everyone adds sand. But one day, the tide comes in really fast, and all your hard work gets washed away. That’s like societal collapse, everything that was holding things up gets taken away or breaks down.

Sometimes, people stop working together. Maybe they’re too tired from playing all day, or they argue about where to put the flagpole. That's like when a society can't agree on what needs to be done, conflict and disagreement make it harder to stay strong.

Also, sometimes there isn’t enough sand left to build with. Maybe the bag got holes in it, or someone took too much. That’s like resources running out, if you don't have food, water, or tools anymore, it's hard to keep going.

So just like your sandcastle can fall when the tide comes in, a society can collapse when things get too tough to handle any longer.
