Mood swings are like having a happy face and a sad face that take turns showing up. Sometimes you feel super excited, and then suddenly you're really upset, and it can all happen in the blink of an eye. This happens because your brain has special messengers called chemicals, and they go up and down to make you feel different emotions.
Examples
- A child goes from laughing at a joke to crying over spilled juice in seconds.
- An adult feels energized at work but becomes angry at home without any clear reason.
- Someone wakes up happy and by lunchtime is feeling completely down.
