Echoes are when sound bounces back to you. Imagine throwing a ball at a wall and it comes right back, like that, but with your voice! When you shout in a big room or a canyon, the sound hits the walls or mountains and bounces back. That’s why you hear your own voice again after a little delay. Echoes are used in real life too, like when doctors use them to see inside our bodies!
Examples
- You shout into a cave and hear your voice come back after a few seconds.
- A dog barks at a wall and hears the sound return as if it’s coming from another direction.
- Your teacher shouts across a large classroom, and you hear an echo of their voice.
