What causes body odor? - Mel Rosenberg?

Body odor is caused by bacteria living on our skin and a special kind of sweat called smelly sweat.

Imagine your body is like a kitchen, and your skin is the counter where all the cooking happens. When you get hot or nervous, your body makes two kinds of sweat: one that’s mostly water (like when you’re running), and another that smells, this is the smelly sweat, made in special glands under your arms.

Now, think about bacteria like tiny chefs who live on your skin. They love to eat the smelly sweat you make, and when they do, they make stinky gases as a byproduct, just like how bread smells when it’s baking or how cheese gets its strong smell.

So, when your body makes smelly sweat and the bacteria on your skin start cooking with it, that's when you get body odor, especially under your arms. It's kind of like when you leave a cookie out too long, it starts to smell because the bacteria (or maybe your brother) has been eating it!
