Sometimes people see the world in black and white because they don’t have special color sensors in their eyes. Just like a black-and-white photo only has shades of gray, these people only see those shades instead of full colors. Their eyes work like filters that let through only certain parts of light, sometimes just black and white.
Examples
- A person with black-and-white vision sees a rainbow as just different shades of gray.
- They might not notice that their friend's shirt is red, they only see it as dark and light stripes.
- When they watch cartoons, everything looks like an old TV show from the 1960s.
