What Causes a ‘Pandemic’ and Why Are They So Scary?

A pandemic is when almost everyone gets sick at once, it’s like a magical virus party that doesn’t want to stop.

Imagine your favorite toy breaks and spreads magic dust everywhere. That magic dust is like a virus, and when you touch something with the magic dust, poof! You also get the magic, which makes you sneeze, cough, or feel really tired. Now imagine all your friends get this magic too, and it keeps spreading until almost everyone has it.

That’s what happens in a pandemic, the virus is super strong and spreads very fast, like a magical fire that can’t be put out easily.

Pandemics are scary because:
