Droughts happen when it doesn’t rain for a long time. Imagine your favorite plant in the garden, if it doesn’t get enough water, it starts to wither and die. That’s what happens to the Earth during a drought. The ground gets dry, rivers shrink, and sometimes even people run out of water to drink or use for farming.
Examples
- A garden might look dry and sad after a few weeks without rain.
- A lake can shrink so much that boats can’t sail across it anymore.
