What caused the extinction of the dinosaurs?

The dinosaurs were knocked out by a really big space rock that crashed into Earth.

What Was That Big Space Rock Like?

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy car, and suddenly a giant ball rolls into the room, it's so huge, it knocks everything over! That’s kind of what happened. A space rock, also called an asteroid, came from way out in space and hit Earth really hard.

How Did It Change Everything?

When that asteroid crashed, it made a massive explosion. The ground shook like when you drop your biggest block on the floor, and dust went all over the sky. This made it dark and cold for a long time, kind of like being in a big, chilly closet without light.

The plants couldn’t grow very well, and animals didn't have enough food to eat. Over time, many of them, including the dinosaurs, could no longer survive. It was like a really long game of tag, eventually, they just got too tired to keep running!
