What are vertices?

A vertex is like a corner where two lines meet, just like the corners on a box or the pointy ends of a star.

Imagine you have a toy cube, like one of those blocks kids stack to build towers. Each corner of that cube is a vertex. That's where the edges come together, like when two streets meet at an intersection in town. You can touch it, feel it, and count them!

If you take apart your toy cube, you’ll see each corner is made by three edges coming together. Those points are vertices. In bigger shapes, like a pyramid or a house, the top point where all the sides meet is also a vertex.
